A tour of lusaka’s cultural highlights is not complete without a visit to Kabwata Cultural Village, a traditional-style trade centre with thatched-roof huts. With 80 resident artists from nine Zambian provinces, the village offers a good variety of wood carvings, weaved baskets, bijou, masks, drums, and traditionally designed fabrics. You can observe craftsman working on their products, and during the holidays the site features live performers.
Elsewhere in the city we have thriving markets, traditional restaurants, and an art scene with numerous galleries and the national museum that should be seen.
Wildlife Discovery Centre
Game Rangers International have opened a unique and immersive Wildlife Discovery Centre in Lusaka National Park. This centre will provide free conservation education to over 5,000 children every year and will also be the new home of our renowned Elephant Nursery, which will move in its entirety from Lilayi.
Fully accessible to all, the Wildlife Discovery Centre will welcome an estimated 40,000 local and international visitors each year to immerse themselves in interactive displays and exhibits highlighting conservation issues and the efforts to resolve them. The aim is to make a significant long-term contribution to the protection of wildlife and wild spaces by showcasing Zambia’s natural wealth, increasing environmental awareness and inspiring greater conservation stewardship.
