Nkonzi Camp – Gavin Opie Safaris

 Nkonzi Camp is located in a less-explored but incredibly rewarding game viewing area in South Luangwa National Park. The camp offers walking safaris that start and end at the camp, as well as game drives that explore untouched wildlife habitats in different directions. Visitors can also take all-day expeditions to remote areas of the park rarely accessed by others.

Despite its remote and unspoiled nature, Nkonzi Camp is easily accessible, with the South Luangwa main gate just a 45-minute drive away and Mfuwe International Airport approximately 1.5 hours by road. The camp prides itself on its small and friendly atmosphere, ensuring personalized attention for each guest.

Accommodation at Nkonzi Camp consists of authentic tented lodgings with a charming design and all the necessary comforts for an immersive nature experience. Each walk-in safari tent features an open-air ensuite bathroom with a classic hot water bucket shower. The heart of the camp is the atmospheric Swahili Meru tent, serving as a relaxed seating area, candle-lit dining space, and a small bush bar, providing guests with the perfect setting to embrace the romance of a safari under canvas.

Nkonzi Camp operates seasonally, from 1st June to 31st October, and utilizes a state-of-the-art solar system to meet all energy needs in camp. During the rainy season (November to April), the camp temporarily closes, allowing the area to be reclaimed by the animals. The camp takes pride in being certified as climate neutral due to its minimal environmental impact and commitment to sustainable practices.
