Shenton Safaris - Kaingo Camp
Kaingo – Shenton Safaris
Kaingo and Mwamba camps, owned and operated by Derek and Jules Shenton, are the result of three generations of wildlife conservation in Southern Africa. These camps are part of Shenton Safaris, one of the last independently owner-run and operated safari camps in the South Luangwa National Park. With a strong management team and exceptional guides, Kaingo and Mwamba offer an immersive African bush experience without any distractions.
Kaingo is situated in the northern area near the Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park, offering an exclusive game viewing area with diverse habitats including Mopane wastelands, Ebony forests, ox-bow lagoons, baobab forests, and thickets. Overlooking the Luangwa River, Kaingo provides a relaxed, personal, and friendly atmosphere for guests to enjoy fantastic game-viewing opportunities amidst stunning natural beauty and varied terrain.
The camps have been meticulously designed to ensure an authentic safari experience. Kaingo’s chalets are strategically nestled on the riverbanks to offer private and incredible views of the Luangwa River. The centrally located open-sided Chitenge features a dining area, library, and a renowned thousand-year-old lead-wood bar. Emphasizing the use of local produce grown on the Shenton Plot, the camps offer menus focused on fresh flavors and classic dishes with a twist.
The Shenton Plot supplies an array of quality fresh herbs, vegetables, fruit, and eggs used for baking and brunch. The plot is organic, with all waste going into compost which then becomes fertilizer for the plot. The camps also feature unique photographic hides used by big TV channels and magazines like National Geographic, BBC, and Discovery Channel to capture wildlife moments. Additionally, they provide specialized equipment for photographers like bean bags and charging stations.
For guests’ convenience, there are transfer options from Mfuwe International Airport to Kaingo. Proflight Zambia operates several flights from different locations to Mfuwe for those who prefer air travel. Additionally, self-drives or road transfers are accommodated with parking options at the vegetable plot close to Mfuwe Airport or at the camp workshop.
Overall, Kaingo and Mwamba camps offer a truly unforgettable African adventure with their exclusive location, expert guiding, unique photographic hides, and convenient transfer options for guests.
