Luangwa River Camp – Robin Pope Safaris

Luangwa River Camp – Robin Pope Safaris

Luangwa River Camp, situated in the heart of an untouched wilderness area and nestled on the banks of the Luangwa River at the end of the Great Rift Valley, offers a truly remarkable safari experience. With our prime location, you are guaranteed to witness an incredible array of wildlife while enjoying our exceptional level of service. The camp features five bush suites – one double and four twin rooms – accommodating a maximum of ten guests. Each suite boasts en-suite bathrooms with double basins and a bath. Limited WIFI is available during certain hours around the main areas, and telephone reception is also accessible.

Our offerings include walking safaris led by trained guides from Robin Pope Safaris and armed National Parks scouts, as well as game drives (day and night) operated in open game viewing vehicles. During chilly periods, blankets are provided, while ponchos are supplied during the wet months. Private activities can be arranged in advance for an additional fee, subject to availability.

Immerse yourself in the local culture with a cultural village tour, a visit to a local market, or a trip to Tribal Textiles, a locally made home décor company. The camp rate is fully inclusive of all meals and drinks, and while our kitchen can accommodate most dietary requests, we regretfully cannot cater to individuals with severe nut allergies due to the inability to guarantee a completely nut-free environment.

The camp runs off mains electricity and provides three-pin square plugs (adaptors available). The tap water is safe for drinking, and bottled water is also provided free of charge. Children over the age of seven are welcome, while younger children may be accommodated on an exclusive use of camp basis by prior arrangement.

All extras can be paid in cash (local currency, US dollars, Euros, or British Pounds) or by Visa Card. Please note that only new US dollar bills with large heads are accepted in Zambia.

Luangwa River Camp operates from 1st April to 30th November. Getting to Mfuwe is convenient with a 1 hour 30 minutes flight from Lusaka, Zambia, or a 1-hour flight from Lilongwe, Malawi. From Mfuwe Airport, it is a 1-hour road transfer to the camp through colorful village life and game viewing areas. Throughout the year, there is direct access from the camp to the park by boat or vehicle.
