Kakuli Camp – Time + tide
Kakuli Camp – Time + tide
In simple English, Kakuli, which means old buffalo bull, was the nickname given to Norman Carr, the pioneer of walking safaris in Zambia. The safari camp has five spacious rooms, including a family room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each room has a comfortable bed, indoor and outdoor showers, and a covered open-air seating area. The main lounge overlooks the river and a lagoon, and there is a wildlife hide for close-up views of animals. Guests can relax with a drink and enjoy the panoramic view before trying traditional Zambian dishes for dinner.
The camp is an excellent starting point for exploring by vehicle or on foot, with opportunities to see a resident lion pride, seasonal carmine bee-eaters, and the highest number of leopard sightings in a single drive each year. During the lush green season, guests can also explore by boat and on foot for wildlife and landscape photography.
The camp is open from January 20th to November 15th and offers four safari rooms plus one family room. It is powered by solar energy and offers Wi-Fi in the safari rooms. Guests can reach the camp with a 2-hour game drive transfer from Mfuwe Airport. Children of all ages are welcome at the camp.
