KaingU Safari Lodge

Discover a hidden gem in the remote Namwala GMA, bordering the Kafue National Park – KaingU Lodge. This owner-run retreat offers comfortable accommodation perfectly attuned to its natural surroundings, built with meticulous attention to detail and a keen sense of aesthetics. Nestled amongst trees on the banks of the Kafue River, the lodge provides idyllic and cozy guest accommodation, while also offering three private and individual campsites for those seeking an even closer connection with nature.

The heart of the lodge is its thatched central area, featuring a lounge, dining space, and bar, complemented by a locally sourced redwood deck built over the river and under the forest canopy. This serene setting is perfect for dining, enjoying sundowners, or simply unwinding with a book, complete with an all-day tea and coffee station. As night falls, a fire is lit in the purpose-built pit on the deck. Solar-lit paths ensure easy access between the chalets and the central area.

Accommodation options at KaingU Lodge include six double Meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms, indoor showers, and open-air showers. The Honeymoon-tent even boasts an additional outdoor bath. Additionally, there’s the Finfoot family house, featuring two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and an outside shower, making it ideal for a couple with children or a small group of friends.

All accommodations are equipped with gauze screen entrances and windows, mosquito netting over the beds, solar-powered lights, and solar-heated water. Filtered drinking water is provided, and bottled water is available from the bar; however, reusable bottles and filtration are encouraged for ecological reasons.

For a truly unique experience, guests can opt for a stay in one of KaingU’s Tonga-tree baskets, providing a secure night under the stars close to nature. The lodge also offers three fully private campsites with their own shower and toilet facilities as well as washing-up areas and thatched shelters. These sites offer incredible river views and ample shade throughout the day.
