Bilimungwe Bushcamp
Nestled in the remote southern part of the South Luangwa National Park, Bilimungwe Bushcamp exudes a welcoming ambiance. The focal point of the camp is its lounge, cleverly built around a termite mound, offering breathtaking views over a waterhole. The camp comprises four raised thatch chalets, each featuring a private porch with panoramic views of three abundant waterholes.
The accommodation at Bilimungwe includes four thatched, raised chalets with either two twin rooms (each with two queen beds) or two double rooms (each with one king bed). Each chalet is equipped with indoor and outdoor showers, wash-basins, and toilets. Solar-powered hot and cold running water is available, along with toiletries such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, and skin moisturizer. Additionally, standing floor fans and mosquito nets are provided for guests’ comfort.
The camp amenities feature a lounge designed around a termite mound and shaded by a winterthorn tree, offering excellent game-viewing opportunities at the nearby waterhole. Guests can also savor breakfast with views of the Luangwa River at the breakfast boma and make use of the fully stocked bar in camp. The camp is powered by solar energy and offers limited charging facilities. Lighting is provided by solar light and paraffin lamps, and there is a limited complimentary laundry service available.
Bilimungwe welcomes children aged 12 years and older. However, due to age restrictions on walking safaris in the park, families traveling with children aged 11 years and younger will need to reserve a private camp or hire a Private Guide Vehicle for the duration of their stay at any of the Bushcamps.
Upon arrival at Mfuwe International Airport, all guests will be met and taken by vehicle to Mfuwe Lodge for refreshments before traveling to Bilimungwe Bushcamp. The driving time from Mfuwe Lodge to Bilimungwe Bushcamp is approximately 2-3 hours, allowing for game-viewing along the way through the South Luangwa National Park.
The closest airport to Bilimungwe Bushcamp is Mfuwe International Airport, which has a luggage allowance of 23kg per person for scheduled flights (packed in soft bags). Additionally, Kapamba Airstrip is available for charter flights and is located a 30-minute drive away from Bilimungwe.
